CommonSensing Launch Events - Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Fiji
Throughout the month of February 2019, a CommonSensing Launch took place in each of the three focus countries, Fiji, Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands. The events brought together key partners from government and local organisations to align goals and ambitions for the CommonSensing Project and build a relationship between project partners as the implementation phase begins.
Small island nations are on the frontline of the devastating impacts of climate change. With nearly a third of the population living on land less than 5m above sea level, they are vulnerable to the threat of rising sea levels, degrading their coastlines, their communities and their livelihoods.
CommonSensing is an innovative project based on a partnership between Fiji, the Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu, and the consortium of international partners, working together to support and build climate resilience and enhance design making through the use of satellite remote sensing technology.
